As I have mentioned before, Charleston SC is full of great eats! A date night spot can be found all around! We were walking through the park in Charleston and the sweetest older man asked us if we were new to town!Of course we were! He asked what we were up to and we told him we needed a great dinner spot! He recommended Slightly North Of Broad Restaurant here in Charleston. Also known as SNOB. Slightly North of Broad, or SNOB, is an eclectic Lowcountry bistro. I will go ahead and tell you now, be prepared to spend a pretty penny if you go here! It IS WORTH IT!
As soon as we walked into the place it was SUPER packed with people and it was a weekday! We were seated in front of the kitchen and the server was immediately attentive. We grabbed the drink menu and browsed the variety of signature cocktails!
We opted for the Blueberry Mule's! These were SO refreshing and delicious! Made with Vodka, Blackberries, Lemon, Mint and Blenheim's Ginger Beer. All of the cocktails are $12.
Bread is given to start out with as well.
The appetizers were amazing! We started out with a sweet potato tamale! This consisted of oxtail, apricot mole, avocado, and toasted benne seed. Let me tell you- this was by far one of the most amazing things I have ever had! I didn’t realize it was oxtail until I had already eaten it. It was delicious!
We also had an appetizer of Steamed Clams! This consisted of Clammer Dave’s Clams, white wine garlic cream, parsley and grilled baguette!
I have never had clams before! To be honest, they were absolutely delicious! The texture take a few minutes to look past but overall, the white wine garlic cream was the perfect touch! Oh my, I can taste it now!
For our entree, we both chose New Bedford Scallops! This consisted of ocal kale, country ham, and sweet corn coulis. These were so delicious! They were cooked perfectly! The texture was perfect and the sweet corn coulis was the perfect touch!
After dinner, I had chosen to try the Honeysuckle Spritz. This included Cathead honeysuckle vodka, cucumber, lime and sparkling wine. The mixture was “off” so they replaced with another mule instead.
I couldn’t leave an amazing restaurant like this without trying dessert! The strawberry shortcake was delicious! This included wholly cow vanilla ice cream, and strawberry sauce. This was melt in your mouth delicious!
Overall, the environment in this place is amazing. I liked sitting near the kitchen to see the chaos of what was going on. It was pretty interesting to see!
