I love shopping at Cost Plus World Market! If you haven't been, you are missing out! One thing I love to do is shop there for Holidays! Specifically Valentine's Day! They offer so many products and the possibilities are endless when it comes to Valentine's Gift Ideas! They have so many gift ideas for her and gift ideas for him. I wanted to do something out of the box and make gourmet Valentine's Day cupcakes with products from Cost Plus World Market!
These cupcakes turned out perfectly! Before I share how to make them, I wanted to share with you the products that I purchased to make this possible as well. The best thing is all of these products can pretty much be used more than once too!
We have Guittard Unsweetened Cacao Powder, Cupcake Injector and Decorating Set, Two jars of Soiree Maraschino Cherries, Red Buffet Table Cloth, Red Heart Melamine Measuring Cups, Red Heart Melamine Measuring Spoons, Ghirardelli 60% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate Chips, Torani Cherry Syrup, Love Beverage Napkins, ChocoMaker Dark Chocolate Curls (2), and lastly, Laica Milk Chocolate Hearts in Mesh Bag.
How I made them:
First I melted a cup of chocolate in a jar on 30 second intervals. I poured it in a ziplock bag and cut the tip off. I piped little hearts on wax paper and put them in the fridge to set. this made for the cute toppers. I wanted white chocolate but I could not find any at my store.
How to make the cupcakes:
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1 jar of pre-made icing or you can make your own
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt. Set aside.
- Go ahead and place your cupcake liners in a cupcake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
- Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat well.
- Pour in equal amounts in each cupcake liner. Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
- Place in the freezer to cool faster if you want to decorate now.
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 4 TBSPs unsalted butter, softened
- 1 jar of Soiree Maraschino Cherries cut into small pieces
- 2 tbsp of Torani Cherry Syrup
This literally took me 5 minutes to make! It is rich, but so delicious too! It only made about a dozen, so you may need to double. It is up to you!
- I creamed the butter with the whisk attachment on the mixer until smooth.
- Beat in powdered sugar slowly starting with two cups.
- I beat in the cherries and syrup.
- Add the remaining sugar and if it is too stiff, add a tbsp of milk, if it is too runny, add MORE powdered sugar. Trust me, it will stiffen up.
- I put in a piping bag and grabbed the cupcakes and piped. They don't have to look perfect but try your best.
- For the topping, I sprinkled the ChocoMaker Dark Chocolate Curls and added my hearts that I made on top!
They turned out so perfect and cute! I am so thrilled with how they are! I laid out the tablecloth I bought and the chocolates made for a cute decor!
